Manchester United Survive Shootout Scare to Reach FA Cup Final

Red Devils Edge Coventry City in Thrilling Semi-Final

Manchester United booked their place in the FA Cup final after a dramatic penalty shootout victory over Coventry City at Wembley Stadium.

The Red Devils looked to be cruising to victory after taking a commanding 3-0 lead in the first half. However, Coventry staged a stunning comeback in the second half, with goals from Ellis Simms and Fabio Tavares sending the game to extra-time.

With neither side able to find a winner in extra-time, the match went to a penalty shootout. Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea proved to be the hero, saving two Coventry spot-kicks to secure a 4-3 win.

Bruno Fernandes scored the winning penalty for Manchester United, sending the Red Devils to their first FA Cup final since 2018. They will now face either Newcastle United or Middlesbrough in the final on May 27.

Coventry City will be disappointed to miss out on a place in the final, but they can take heart from their performance against one of the Premier League's top teams. The Sky Blues will now focus on their Championship campaign, with a play-off semi-final against Rotherham United to come.
