MILAN, Italy – Inter Milan clinched their 20th Italian title on Saturday with a hard-fought 2-1 derby victory over rivals AC Milan. Goals from Francesco Acerbi and Marcus Thuram proved decisive in sealing the Nerazzurri's triumph.
The match was played on a rain-soaked pitch at the San Siro, and both teams struggled to find their footing in the early stages. Inter took the lead in the 35th minute when Alessandro Bastoni's cross found Acerbi in the box, and the defender headed home at the near post.
Milan equalized in the second half when Olivier Giroud pounced on a loose ball and fired home. However, Inter regained the lead just minutes later when Thuram latched onto a long pass and slotted the ball past Ciprian Tatarusanu.
Milan pushed for an equalizer but couldn't find a way through Inter's resolute defense. The Nerazzurri held on to claim their first Serie A title since 2021, and their first under manager Simone Inzaghi.
The victory was a sweet one for Inter, who had finished second to Milan last season. It also ensured that the Nerazzurri will play in the Champions League next season.
