Huskies defeat Alabama to set up NCAA Championship matchup with Purdue

Storrs, Conn. -

The No. 1 UConn Huskies are headed to the NCAA Championship game after defeating Alabama 86-72 in the Final Four on Saturday night. The Huskies will face Purdue on Monday night in the title game, marking their first appearance in the championship game since 2014.

UConn was led by a balanced scoring attack in the victory, with four players scoring in double figures. Adama Sanogo led the way with 20 points and 10 rebounds, while Andre Jackson Jr. added 19 points and Jalen Gaffney scored 17 off the bench.

The Huskies were able to limit Alabama's high-powered offense to just 72 points, which was significantly lower than their season average of 81.6 points per game. Alabama's leading scorer, Brandon Miller, was held to just 14 points, well below his season average of 19.7 points per game.

UConn's victory sets up a highly anticipated matchup with Purdue in the title game. The Boilermakers are the No. 1 seed in the tournament and have a record of 29-4 this season. Purdue is led by Zach Edey, one of the best big men in the country, and has a strong supporting cast.
