Eleven Tornadoes Confirmed in Illinois and Indiana
At least 11 tornadoes touched down in parts of the Chicago area Wednesday, causing damage to homes and uprooting trees. The National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed that the storms moved through eastern Iowa and into Illinois around 7 pm, with three tornadoes touching down in the Chicago area late in the evening.
The NWS reported that the risk of tornadoes had ended in Cook County, which includes Chicago, by 10 pm. However, the severe weather system brought strong winds and heavy rain, prompting warnings for several counties in the area.
The NWS also confirmed that the complex of storms caused at least 11 tornadoes in Illinois and northwest Indiana. Damage assessments are ongoing, but reports indicate that homes, businesses, and infrastructure have been impacted. The NWS urges residents to remain vigilant and heed any warnings or instructions from local officials.
